Ingredients

slices Swiss cheese

slices marble rye bread
3/4 cup
sauerkraut, squeezed dry
175 mL
2 tbsp
Thousand Island dressing
30 mL

slices Sensations by Compliments Serrano Ham, prosciutto or other cured ham
2 tbsp
butter, room temperature
30 mL
pickles, for serving (optional)

Method

Step 1

Divide half the cheese slices onto 4 bread slices. Top with sauerkraut, dressing, Serrano ham and remaining cheese. Cap with remaining bread slices. Spread butter on outsides of sandwiches.

Step 2

Heat skillet over medium-low heat. Pan-fry sandwiches 5 to 7 min. turning once, until the bread is toasted and cheese is melted. Cut in half and serve with pickles, if desired.

Tips

Alternatively, grill sandwiches in panini press.
